Cheaper 12V OzXCorp caravan batteries roll out

Australia's largest and one of its safest 12V lithium batteries now available for retrofitting to many locally-built caravans

Aussie RV off-grid power innovator OzXCorp is rolling out a new 12V version of its game-changing 48V off-grid power system, that can be retro-fitted to many existing caravan set-ups.

The Melbourne-based company recently announced limited availability of its first batch of new 628Ah (8kWh) and 942Ah (12kWh) LiFePO4 batteries which according to OzXCorp are "built tough, designed for RVs, and engineered for those who demand long-lasting, safe off-grid power".

"Proudly known as Australia’s safest RV battery, and now available via our national distributor NCE," the Melbourne-based company said on social media.

"The 48 volt version has been very popular over the last seven years but due to public pressure more than anything... we've come out with a 12V version with the same safety features, same credentials and performance as our 48V system," OzXCorp co-founder, Andrew Huett told GoRV.

Like OzXCorp's 48V 14.3kWh and 7.1kWh chassis-mounted batteries, the new 12V batteries get an built-in battery heater, thermal alarm and active safety systems, and an IP67- waterproof rating, among other features.

Unlike the 48V OzXCorp powerpacks, the chassis-mounted 12V batteries do not feature an in-built inverter as they're also designed to be retro-fitted to caravans with existing 12V systems.

"This battery marries to any type of inverter or solar systems in the market," Huett said.

"The best part is you can take the batteries out from under the bed and put this in place into the chassis (to free up storage space), or if required you can put it above the floor with our venting system as well."

Weighing from 76kg to 104kg, the high-density batteries are good for more than 8000 cycles and come with a seven year warranty. OzXCorp distributor NCE is yet to announce pricing but they're expected to retail from around $6000 for off-the-shelf units.

Royal Flair Caravans is one of the first manufacturers to fit the new 12V batteries, with the 50th Anniversary Aussiemate getting the 628Ah battery as standard and Royal Flair's top-spec EcoMate equipped with the 942Ah version -- described as Australia's largest 12V lithium battery by OzXCorp.
