Casey Stoner buys a Zone family caravan

Aussie MotoGP champ adds another homegrown RV to his collection of off-road adventure equipment

Retired Australian motorcycle racing champ Casey Stoner is best known for his 300km/h-plus, two wheeled exploits on a racetrack, but he's now spending more time on eight wheels in the 'slow lane' after recent purchases of premium Australian made recreational vehicles.

In 2021 the two-time MotoGP champion picked up a brand new TH610 toy hauler camper from Queensland's Patriot Campers, and now the winner of 45 Grand Prix races is taking the keys to a more accommodating RV for his growing family; a latest Queensland-built 21ft Zone off-road bunk caravan.

Zone RV recently dropped a video on Youtube with a walk-through of Stoner's new 'highly specified' 21ft Sojourn bunk model, which the fast-growing Queensland manufacturer said he's planning to do a 'lap around Australia' with his wife and children.

Pricing for the 2024-model Zone Sojourn starts at $147,000, but the Stoners' van is worth a bit more than that, with a number of option boxes ticked including a pull-out BBQ slide, powered entry step, electric awning, MaxTrax and bike rack, while extras inside include an air-conditioner, washing machine and double bunks.

Interestingly, Casey Stoner had a far less luxurious caravan experience when he was in his teens and his parents sold their farm in Australia in order to finance a trip to Europe to help their talented son forge a racing career. As the story goes, the family lived in a caravan with heat and water but no shower during their first winter in the UK!

Stoner, whose other 'retirement' pursuits include golf and fishing, is not the first Aussie racetrack star to spend up big on a caravanning lifestyle, with Bathurst champ Craig Lowndes also opting for a number of premium models over the years...
