Caravan stats for everyone
Interesting information on RV registration trends now available for free onlineThe Caravan Industry Association of Australia has introduced a new website that allows anyone to compare and contrast RV ownership across the country.
The CaravanStats website draws on data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), state and territory governments, and other data and analytics providers to report current industry trends.
To access the free information users have to provide a name, email address and postcode, and filters are provided so information on specific criteria can be obtained.
The website has two main sections: a Postcode Data Report which analyses caravan and campervan registrations by postcode or state, and a Trade Registration Report that provides various statistics based on quarterly registration data, including new vs renewed, year on year, location and RV style (caravan, motorhome or camper trailer).
For example, the first three months of 2015 saw 35,469 caravan, 13,946 motorhome and 6250 camper trailer registrations (new and renewed) in Australia, although figures were not supplied for NSW.
As well as providing interesting consumer information such as the top-10 postcodes for RV registrations, the peak national body says the data allows RV businesses to better understand national and local trends in the industry.
The website also lists monthly Australian RV production data going back to July 2014.
