Brisbane-based Bruder isn't the only Queensland caravan manufacturer currently stretching the boundaries of what's possible in an all-terrain travel trailer.
The Sunshine Coast's Rhinomax Campers has just announced a new hands-free, auto-closing magnetic flyscreen, while after years of development Brisbane's Kedron Caravans is starting to roll out its 'çyclone-ready' rooftop slide-out solar panel system.
According to Rhinomax, its new Magnetic Flyscreen Door is designed to work in conjunction with the RV manufacturer's bespoke triple-lock, 'dust-proof'' entry door with submarine-style hatch.
As seen in the video below, the mesh screen automatically returns and seals around the door frame after walking through it from either side. Also included are some adjustable tassels to re-align the edges if required, while the screen is also easily rolled up out of the way and secured with velcro straps.
Meanwhile, Kedron has just fitted its latest Solar Wing powered slide-out panels to an MY25 21ft AT5 customer caravan. The two slide-outs are activated by a switch and add twin 200W panels on both sides, resulting in more than 2000W solar power in total. The expanded solar panel system feeds an 800Ah lithium battery system, that's also upgradeable.
While other caravan manufacturers including Royal Flair and Kokoda have introduced roof-mounted solar panel slide-outs, the design-registered Kedron Solar Wing has been years in the making and is believed to be the first to be tested in high winds, with Kedron claiming it can withstand gusts of up to 60km/h when fully out.
"We have been working for many years on slide-out solar, with multiple extrusions, rams, locking, and testing with many prototypes, and have developed a system that will allow for 2560 watts of solar... with press button, or smart phone switching to operate and unlock," Kedron's Glen Gall explained back in 2023.
The latest Kedron AT5 caravan also boasts other trick new features including a remote-operated dust pressurization system and cabinetry with internal auto light switching.
While innovative, it's also not the first time that easy-connecting magnets have been used to make camping life easier, with Track Trailer replacing velcro with magnets a few years ago for its Tvan MK5.
