It’s official! Most new caravan buyers are motivated more by a desire to see Australia, than the chance to use the latest RV products and services when making their purchase.
They also rate value-for-money highest when choosing a caravan park.
These were the major findings of a four year study of more than 1000 recent caravan buyers conducted by the Caravan Industry Association of Australia.
The survey found 85 percent of respondents’ opinion of the caravan industry has improved in recent times, with 32 percent attributing their more positive opinion with “better products and facilities” in the marketplace.
But products and services were not the biggest motivator for new caravanners and campers, according to the results, with 47 percent “a desire to see more of Australia” a bigger factor leading them to camping and caravanning. A further 19 percent saw it as an opportunity for “a change in overall lifestyle”.
Value for money also rated highly for people deciding where to stay, with 65 percent of respondents choosing it as a factor. However, good park atmosphere (56 percent), modern amenities (52 per cent), and friendly management (51 per cent) were not far behind.
“Caravanning and camping in Australia is a lifestyle, as well as a holiday,” said Caravan Industry Association of Australia CEO Stuart Lamont.
“It is great to see that the industry has responded to the market - making improvements both to accommodation facilities, and the range of product available – and that the marketplace has noticed,” he said.
“Caravanning and camping is a flexible, but also very affordable option for Australians, and we see that when we look into results about what factors affect where they choose to stay.”
