Camp cooking: Golden pancakes

Who would have thought dropping dollops of batter into a hot pan could be a genius plan?
The humble pancake goes back a long way. The ancient Greeks and Romans enjoyed them with honey, while USA President Thomas Jefferson was also fond of his ‘griddlecakes’; as they were known back then.

Pancakes can really be made anytime of the day with both sweet or savoury toppings.
See you on the flip side!
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 5-7 minutes
Ingredients:
Flour
Baking Powder
Salt
Maple syrup / jam
Milk
Butter to grease the pan
Eggs
Equipment:
Mixing bowl
Measuring cups
Pan
Large spoon
Pancake flipper
Method:
In a mixing bowl, mix 2 cups of flour, 1 tbsp baking powder and ¼ tsp of salt.

Add 2 cups of milk and mix well.

In a separate bowl, beat 1 egg and add this to the mixing bowl, adding water until the consistency is smooth.
Heat pan over medium heat and grease the pan with butter.
Spoon the batter into the pan.
Watch the batter carefully and bubbles will form on the surface of the pancakes.
When these bubbles burst, flip the pancakes.
Keep cooking pancakes until they turn a lovely light golden brown.
Top with maple syrup or jam and enjoy!
