A year after opening Australia's first caravan super centre in the Brisbane suburb of Burpengary, Queensland’s largest caravan retailer has been recognised for its business savvy.
Kratzmann Caravans, which started business more than 30 years ago in a small used caryard in Virginia, Brisbane, has been named Best Large Retailer in the annual Caboolture Region Excellence in Business Awards.
The family run business, led by founder and CEO Gary Kratzmann, was recognized for its contribution to the local region as a retailer with more than 10 employees.
Kratzmann's son Clint, who is general manager of the Burpengary facility, said it was a great honour to win the award.
"We identified the Shire of Caboolture, and Burpengary in particular, as a major growth area some years ago and the success of our business, since expanding to the new facility, is an indicator that we got that right," he said.
"From the start the Shire was enormously supportive in the development and we're delighted to have been recognised with this award, which is very unexpected."
Gary Kratzmann, who this year celebrates 42 years in the business, opened the $9 million super centre on a six-hectare site adjacent to the Bruce Highway last September
Designed as a one-stop-shop for everything outdoor and lifestyle related, Kratzmann Place features a massive indoor showroom, extensive outdoor and full-covered display zones, a state-of-the-art service centre and on-site parts and towing aids.
Across its two sites – Burpengary and Virginia – Kratzmann Caravans features a broad range of caravans, camper trailers and motorhomes with brands including A'van, Concept, Franklin, Goldstream, Jurgens, Track Trailer and Traveller.
Recognised as Queensland’s largest caravan retailer, Kratzmann Caravans holds about 30 percent of the Queensland RV market, or around four percent of the Australian market.
