The final 'caravan supershow' of the year has been a success for punters as well as exhibitors, according to organiser Caravanning Queensland.
The peak caravan body in the Sunshine State claimed "national sales records" for many of the 200-odd exhibitors at the 2022 Let's Go Queensland Caravan & Camping Supershow, which ran for six days at the Brisbane Showgrounds in early-June.
Big-selling Chinese importer MDC pulled in plenty of orders thanks to one of the largest displays at the show, which included around seven of its latest 15th Anniversary models.
“I’m very happy with the results from the show and proud of what my team achieved this year, setting an all-time national sales record for MDC,” Managing Director Vaughan Hindley said.
Queensland dealer for Lotus and Essential caravans and Lumberjack camper trailers, Lawrence RV, said it sold more caravans and campers at the show than it expected to.
“We experienced our best turnout yet and broke the record for Lotus caravan sales with 60 new purchases, and sold 97 vans in total across the show and our other brands,” Lawrence RV owner Jason Lawrence said.
Caravanning Queensland Trade CEO, Jason Plant, remained upbeat about the booming Australian RV industry, despite recent headwinds including rising interest rates and record fuel prices.
“We are expecting the next 12 to 18 months to be very strong for the industry, as some dealers and
manufacturers announce record sales resulting from this year’s show,” he said.
“Even with international borders now open, caravanning continues to be the top holiday option for Aussies, evident by these record sales which is great news for the wider tourism industry here in Queensland and across Australia.”
While some big-name brands were absent, including Kedron and New Age Caravans, Caravanning Queensland announced a total attendance of more than 40,000 people at the June 7-12 event
-- almost identical to the 40,440 in 2021 and 40,500 recorded in 2019.
