Get out the Brylcreem, bobby sox and Chuck Berry records, the Vintage Van Display is on again, to be held in conjunction with South Australia’s biggest caravan and camping show in February.
The inaugural Vintage & Classic Caravan Grand Parade in 2013, was a resounding success, with 44 vintage vans of all ages, shapes and sizes, gathering at the Adelaide Showground.
This time around, there will be no pre-display parade for the pre-1980 caravans. Instead, they will be displayed on the grassed Showground arena but over two days rather than one, to allow more showgoers to enjoy the spectacle.
The organizers are hoping for an even bigger turnout this time of around 50 vans, with about half that amount signed up prior to Christmas.
Visitors to the South Australian show can expect another colourful, nostalgic display, highlighted by period-matching tow cars and owners dressed up in period garb for the occasion.
Meanwhile, the annual South Australian Caravan and Camping Show has been given a new name along with new dates for 2015.
Still held at the Adelaide Showground, the show has been renamed the Let’s Go Caravan & Camping Lifestyle Show, to reflect the new marketing slogan adopted by state and national caravan bodies. ??
The five-day show will start a day later than usual, on Thursday February 19, to give exhibitors also attending the Melbourne Supershow (February 11-16) enough time to get to Adelaide.
This year’s Adelaide show will also feature new children’s activities, including a camping kids’ zone and trail, and entertainment stage with family shows and cooking demonstrations. Free Ferris Wheel rides will also be offered over the week-end.
