Brisbane-based extreme offroad RV manufacturer Bruder X plans to use the exposure from its star appearance in the Innovations Hub at this year’s Victorian Caravan, Camping and Touring Supershow as the trigger for a major production expansion of its hardcore expedition trailers.
Bruder’s first major Australian caravan show appearance followed the global exposure it achieved during the launch of the new Land-Rover Defender.
The new Landy’s promotion video clip featured a tandem axle Bruder EXP-6 being towed through difficult terrain behind the much-anticipated new British 4WD and has been viewed millions of times globally.
Priced from $59,900 the new, compact EXP-4, takes the smaller Bruder into a new, higher-volume market currently inhabited by worthy rivals including the latest Patriot X3 and recently-released box campers such as the latest ZoneRV Expedition, AOR Sierra and Northcoast Campers X.9 and is also available, like the ZoneRV models with a lightweight carbon fibre outer skin on its 30mm-thick closed cell epoxy bonded composite walls.
To meet anticipated demand in both Australia and overseas, Bruder over the coming months will transition from its existing Oxley, Brisbane factory to a new and much larger facility 10 minutes away at Richlands.
At four times the size, the new factory will allow Bruder to increase production from 50 vehicles per year to a target of 150 per year, with a large proportion of this increase to satisfy world-market interest, particularly from the USA and Europe.
As Ballina’s Kimberley Caravans has found, adventurous North Americans have a growing fascination with Australian adventure vehicles and consequently Bruders are built for international compliance.
All Bruder models have unique off-road capabilities for towed trailers, thanks to their 300mm of individual wheel travel provided to each wheel by their standard airbag spring suspension, along with 850mm ground clearance.
A fully-sealed 125 x 75mm painted chassis built around its Australian 450 grade high tensile circular hollow section multi-link steel suspension, four-wheel ventilated disc brakes, enclosed water tanks for total damage protection and a drop-on lightweight body are features also unique to Bruder, along with off-road tyres up to 37 inches (94cm) diameter.
Featuring a 4027mm x 1963mm pumped-up teardrop camper body, the all-black EXP-4 has a base Tare of 850kg and an ATM of 1600kg.
The EXP-4 can accommodate a family with young kids inside with the option of a 1.8m bunk bed at the base of the 2150mm x 1800mm inside sleeping area, while its all-composite external kitchen that is accessed via a top-hinged rear door, features a benchtop with stainless steel basin and swivel tap, a 60-litre portable fridge, two burner gas cooker and storage cabinets, with space to accommodate a portable BBQ.
Also standard is an external shower, 100 litre water tank and 12V water pump, 4.5kg gas bottle, 105Ah battery system, and two external lockers that are big enough to store a portable toilet.
