An expanded display area allowing for more exhibits at this year’s Border RV & Camping Expo has been given the thumbs up by show organizer, the Caravan Industry Association of Victoria (CIA Vic), which has locked in the Wodonga Racecourse venue for another three years.
According to CIA Vic, exhibitors reported an enthusiastic response to the spacious new layout, which allowed big players like Jayco and Avida to occupy dedicated indoor halls as well as a number of new products to make their show debut including a world-first solar electric tent pole.
CIA Vic cited attendance figures “close to last year’s figures”, so around 15,000 for the three days.
The show also made the headlines of local news sites, for all the wrong reasons, when around $2500 of 4WD accessories were stolen from one of the displays on the Saturday night, despite security guards in attendance.
On a more positive note, the show raised another $5000 for charity, while more than 1000 tickets were sold to showgoers for CIA Vic’s charity raffle of a
unique 23ft family caravan worth over $78,000.
“The raffle is off to a great start, and we hope to raise up to $100,000 or even more,” CIA Vic CEO Rob Lucas said. “Tickets will also be on sale Melbourne Leisurefest at Sandown Racecourse, where the winner will be drawn on 5 October.”
Raffle tickets can also be bought online at the GoMakeSoMememories website.
