On The Move Caravans unveiled two new value-packed off-road models at the Victorian Caravan & Camping Supershow last week, as the OTM brand celebrates its 25th anniversary.
Available in couple and family layouts and a number of body lengths, the new Chinese-built Traxx tandem-axle off-road hardtop model introduces some new standard features to the OTM range, including a tall, pantry-style external kitchen slide-out, 'rot free' lightweight cabinetry, flexible solar awning and a new trailing arm airbag suspension.

The MY26 Traxx 'vans also get a new chassis-mounted 'toolbox' locker that contains spare airbags and fuses, chocks, a jack and torque wrench, plus a big entertainment locker with new JBL marine stereo, large TV, drawer fridge and shelving.
There's another large fridge/freezer and TV inside, plus a bar fridge in the new slide-out kitchen module, alongside the sink and cooktop (gas or induction).

The 4000kg ATM, Traxx 7.2 family van on display was fitted with a 1200W Awnlux roll-out solar awning to go with 800W rooftop solar, a 3000W inverter and two 400Ah lithium batteries. The onboard Renogy power system also includes three control panels in total, located inside and out of the 'van.

To keep weight down, the slide-out kitchen module with heavy-duty runners is made from aluminium, while all furniture and benchtops are produced from aluminium-reinforced PET foam panels rather than traditional timber ply - a feature OTM is rolling out across its entire range.
The 'timber free' construction extends to fibreglass sandwich panels for the 50mm thick roof and 30mm walls, and a 40mm honeycomb floor.

OTM CEO Robin Harris said the new upright kitchen module has also allowed for a flat bedhead design, so you can more comfortably sit up in bed. Smaller 5.9 and 6.6 Traxx 'vans also come with the large cafe-style hatch window, first seen on the compact Galaxy tourer.
"We've packed a lot into them," Harris said.

RRP pricing for the latest four-model Traxx range starts at $117,990 for the 19ft Traxx 5.9 couple's 'van, with the range-topping Traxx 7.2 family 'van priced from $132,990.
Harris said the previous Australian-made Traxx 'vans (built by Network RV) are no longer available, with the entire OTM range now built in China.

He said buyers will be able to choose between OTM's existing swing-arm wishbone suspension or a new manually-adjustable tandem axle airbag set-up, which are both designed to be fitted to the Traxx chassis.

Also on display on the OTM stand at the Victorian Supershow was a new Nitro pop-top, expedition-style hybrid with a distinctive curved composite body, that's set to join the OTM line-up in coming months.
The 18ft prototype on display was fitted with OTM's off-road wishbone suspension with airbags and features a pull-out front bed design similar to the old locally-built Windsor Rapid.

The one-piece fibreglass moulded roof is raised by four corner actuators, with PET foam 'floating' overhead cupboards and pop-top fabric insulation among other interior highlights.
More one-piece fibreglass moulds are used for the side panels, including a single piece for the curved rear and side sections and a separate mould for the front.

The 'gasless' set-up includes a large outside kitchen with sink and bar fridge and space for another chest fridge, and plenty of storage including 'pass-through' cupboards.
The MY26 Nitro also gets a Renogy 12V system with 200Ah lithium battery, 2000W inverter and 800W rooftop solar. The prototype has a 2080kg Tare and 2800kg ATM.

OTM was taking orders at the show, with pricing starting at $89,990 RRP. It plans to introduce other Nitro layouts including a 5.9 family variant.
As far as the 25th anniversary goes, On The Move Caravans was started in 2001 by former auto electrician Lennie Mifsud and his wife Jennifer, and operated as a boutique caravan builder in Melbourne before it was taken over by new owners around five years ago.

Based on the Gold Coast and with seven nationwide dealers, OTM now offers close to 60 different Chinese-built model variants, from lightweight 'vans and larger tourers to full off-road models.
Nitro is not a new name -- it was previously used for a Melbourne-built On The Move toy hauler around 10 years ago.
