Trakka has unveiled a stunning and clever new, Mercedes-Benz based, top-spec motorhome at the Newcastle Caravan, Camping & Holiday Expo.
Featuring a stand-out black/silver exterior treatment, the Sprinter 519-based Trakkaway 800 motorhome is the latest coach-built, premium touring model from the NSW campervan and motorhome specialist, which celebrated its 40th anniversary last year.
At 7.92m long, the new 800 model is 70cm shorter than Trakka’s current Fiat-based 860 range-topper, but offers offers a similar front lounge/rear bed layout thanks to a rear-slide out that extends the walk-around, queen-bed area, and the inclusion of Trakka’s ‘all-in-one’ Switch Mode bathroom instead of separate shower and toilet.
Trakka has also updated some design and décor features, including a new entry door area and new cloth and leather trim combination for the seating.
Trakka general manager, Martin Poate said at $210,000, the Trakkaway 800 is priced around the same as the front-drive Trakkaway 860, but offers the advantages of being more compact as well as Mercedes’ slick rear-drive set-up including 140kW/440Nm 3.0-litre, six-cylinder turbo-diesel engine and seven-speed automatic transmission.
Tare (4100kg) and GVM (5000kg) are about the same as the 860, but the Trakkaway 800 can tow slightly more (1500kg).
The aerodynamic but less practical ‘Aero 2’ luton peak is standard but for an extra $3500 buyers can opt for the bigger ‘Aero4’ cab-over for two more berths or extra luggage space.
Befitting a $200,000-plus motorhome, the Trakkaway 800 is dripping with features including a 190 litre fridge/freezer, 2 x 100aH auxiliary batteries, 165 fresh and 135 grey water tanks, and a ducted air-conditioning system to go with diesel ducting heating.
