BIG4 parks scoop tourism awards

BIG4 Holiday Parks have made a clean sweep at the 2011 State Tourism Awards held across the country this month.

At each of the seven awards nights held in each state or territory during November, BIG4 branded parks took out the ‘Caravan and Tourist Park’ category, which recognises holiday parks that offer the best overall tourism experience.

At the 2011 Queensland Tourism Awards, the BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort in Airlie Beach won the award for best caravan park, just pipping another BIG4 park, the Cairns Coconut Holiday Resort.

The BIG4 Adelaide Shores Caravan Park on Adelaide’s West Beach won the South Australian equivalent, with Victor Harbor Beachfront Holiday Park awarded runner-up.

In Tasmania, the BIG4 St Helens Holiday Park on the island’s north-east coastline got the gong, as did BIG4 MacDonnell Range Holiday Park in the Northern Territory.

The BIG4 North Star Holiday Resort on Hastings Point, near Tweeds Head, won the NSW award, beating Lane Cove River Tourist Park in Sydney and the BIG4 Deniliquin Holiday Park which took out second and third place respectively.

BIG4 Middleton Beach Holiday Park in Albany, Western Australia and BIG4 Beacon Resort in Queenscliff, Victoria, were other big winners. Beacon Resort was also inducted into the Victorian Tourism Awards Hall of Fame, after winning the award for the third time.

The State Tourism Awards are held each year to acknowledge tourism businesses that have demonstrated outstanding achievement and success throughout the year.

BIG4 Holiday Parks CEO, Ray Schleibs, said the results “reinforce BIG4’s position as the leading holiday park operator in Australia”.

“These seven award-winning businesses are testament to the quality of parks in our family and we are very proud they wear the BIG4 badge,” he said.
