Caravan parks in some of Australia’s most popular tourist destinations, boasting resort-style facilities from BMX tracks to golf driving ranges, have been the major winners at this year’s State Tourism awards.
For the second year running, Peppermint Park has collected the Top Tourist and Caravan Park award at the West Australian tourism awards.
According to its website, the BIG4 park “located on the doorstep of Busselton and Dunsborough… is unique as it is nestled within 8ha of natural bush-land but only a short 300 metre stroll to the white sands and crystal clear waters of Geographe Bay”.
Taking out South Australia's top park award for the fourth year running was BIG4 Adelaide Shores Caravan Park, which claims to be the first South Australia park to instal a big-buck splash zone.
Another state winner was BIG4 St Helens Holiday Park. It's located along Tasmania’s ruggedly beautiful north-east coastline near Binalong Bay and Bay of Fires, recently voted by Lonely Planet as the world's No.1 beach.
Nambucca River Tourist Park, which among other activities offers a golf driving range and kayak hire, won the Best Holiday park award for NSW, while RACV Cobram Resort, which has its own bmx track, took out the Victorian best park gong.
Also adding to its bulging trophy cabinet was Queensland's BIG4 Cairns Coconut Resort.
And BIG4 MacDonnell Range Holiday Park, which boasts two jumping pillows along with a pancake breakfast every Sunday morning, collected the Northern Territory tourism award for the fifth year running.
The State Tourism Awards acknowledge Australian tourism providers that have gone over and above in providing outstanding service and experiences and achieved fantastic results in the past year.
