Big moves for Caravan HQ

Queenslander dealer moves into Victorian caravan heartland as industry focuses on manufacturing

Queensland’s family-owned Caravan HQ, which has experienced substantial local growth in recent COVID years, has now spread it wings into Melbourne, taking over sales and service activities for its two most innovative brands, Royal Flair and Van Cruiser.

The move is part of six year-old Caravan HQ’s planned national expansion, with its wish list including adding retail representation in New South Wales to its brand portfolio that also includes Network RV and On the Move caravans.

Retail display outside Royal Flair factory

Caravan HQ‘s Marketing Manager, Simon Kerr, who was formerly with Coromal/Apollo in Brisbane, said the move with both Victorian caravan builders would free them from retail duties, allowing them to concentrate on manufacturing.

In Royal Flair’s case, this has meant taking over their Epping, Victoria showroom outside their factory, with initial plans to have six caravans on display, with the potential to grow this to 13 or more.

Established by the Deralas family, Royal Flair has built a reputation in the industry since 1975 as an innovator, with its Piazza series incorporating fold-out undercover floor space on its A-frame, and its compact off-road Razor range and its Raptor series combining luxury with the versatility of a toy hauler.

Family owned and operated Van Cruiser located at Victoria’s Carrum Downs has always pushed the design envelope, with founder Enzo Gnocato consistently innovating with things like a full-sized rear spa bath with a rain shower, and innovative dust and rain resistant designs.

In Van Cruiser’s case, the combined caravan and home furnishings showroom that fronts its Frankston-Dandenong Road facility has room to display six caravans that the company uses as samplers from which individual customer vans are built in the factory at the building’s rear.

Both Victorian companies are already represented by Caravan HQ in Queensland at its Yatala HQ, with future expansion plans also including dealer representation in Far North Queensland, which Simon Kerr says is currently under-represented given its substantial caravan market and major caravan shows in Mackay and Townsville.
