Big move for oldest Jayco dealer

Melbourne's Page Bros RV relocates to new high-profile address after 45 years selling Jayco vans

One of Australia's oldest and biggest Jayco dealers has re-located to a new location after almost half a century at its previous dealer-owned address.

After running one of the most successful caravan retail businesses in the country on a massive three hectare site in the Melbourne bayside suburb of Seaford, the family-owned Page Bros RV was forced to move to the slightly smaller new site after the State Government compulsorily acquired its land for a rail yard.

Page Bros has moved to a new location after more than 45 years

About a 30 minutes' drive from the old Seaford address, the new 2.1 hectare site at 648 South Road, Moorabbin was previously occupied by a car dealership and boasts sealed outdoor and undercover display and storage areas for more than 200 new and used caravans, campers, pop-tops, expanders and motorhomes.

The high-profile site is conveniently located about 15 kilometres south-east of Melbourne's CBD, in a busy retail and industrial hub not far from the popular Southland shopping centre.

Page Bros RVs was started in 1976 by Trevor Page and his brother, and with Page's son Steven in charge is now Victoria's biggest Jayco dealer employing around 50 full-time staff.

With strong demand for RVs at the moment, Page Bros marketing co-ordinator Vanessa Ker said that the 80-plus new Jayco vans, campers and motorhomes currently on-site were already sold or for display only, with waiting lists for most Jayco models now stretching into 2022.

Bunk vans are running hot at Jayco dealers

Supplies of used vans are also running low, with about 20 used RVs currently on display -- down from around 70 before COVID-19 -- along with some run-out models including a JTrak tent trailer and a Jayco-imported Airstream travel trailer.

Ker said one of the hottest sellers at the moment are full-size bunk vans, with many young families now bypassing cheaper entry-level campers and stepping straight into a bigger, pricier bunk or family model.

Used RVs are also being snapped up by COVID-affected buyers

"The bunk bed vans get snapped up straight away... I think people are now going straight for the family vans rather than (one of Jayco's traditional wind-up) camper trailers," she said.

Along with a large office and reception area, the new premises boast a big servicing and pre-delivery building and a parts and accessories retail outlet.
