Boutique Victorian off-road caravan builder Crzr Industries has ripped the covers off its first custom-built hybrid camper.
Like the bigger Crzr 'vans, the new 15ft/4.5m (body length) hard-walled pop-top caravan is built for extreme off-road use, with its full composite body mounted on a Raptor-coated heavy-duty chassis with built-in winch, DO-35 coupling and Crzr's unique self-levelling airbag suspension that delivers up to 200mm travel.
The custom build also boasts disc brakes, 35in Wrangler Duratrac mud tyres and underbody bash plates to enable the 2.0m wide pop-top camper to squeeze down tight bushy tracks without too much drama.
Other external features include an electric pop-top roof and a tough-as-nails 180 degree awning from The Bush Company, with an ISI bike rack, Maxtrax, firewood rack and large toolbox with gen and fridge slides also fitted on the drawbar.
A gas-free set-up includes an induction cooktop and sink in the recessed outside kitchen, although a mount for a gas bottle has been fitted to run a Weber bbq.
For off-grid camping there's 240 litres of fresh water storage and a grey water tank, plus a pricey 300Ah Enerdrive 12V lithium battery system with 2600W inverter and Redarc TVMS display.
The cosy interior layout includes a raised north-south queen bed up front, plus twin bunks for the kids and an enclosed shower with composting toilet. Other interior comforts include a diesel hot water unit and space heater and a number of Sirocco fans, and there are various internal and external storage options.
Crzr Industries founder Rhys Conti said the 15ft hybrid was one of his favourite builds to date, and yet another step in the evolution of the cutting-edge Crzr brand, which kicked off around mid-2019.
"The customer wanted outdoor living to go with indoor sleeping along with a couch for the kids to relax if the weather is bad," he said.
Apart from toy haulers, Conti said it's the lightest trailer the business has built to date, with a Tare weight of 2150kg and an ATM of 3000kg.
"It's still heavy for the size of the van but that's because we built it so robust, and the 250kg ball weight makes it really good for towing as long as you're careful with your loading," he said.
Crzr doesn't release pricing for its bespoke creations, but suffice to say a similar build would cost well into six figures.
Based in Shepparton, Victoria, Crzr Industries is currently working on a custom-built 19ft tandem axle caravan designed for full time travel around Australia.
