Avida rolls out new fit-outs

All-new interiors for select Avida motorhomes, pop-tops and caravans

Avida has taken the opportunity to show off new fit-outs for Birdsville and Esperance motorhome at the Caravan and Camping Holiday Supershow, held in Sydney.  Highlights of the refreshed interiors include new lighting, cabinetry and a new entry door.

The LED mood lighting has been re-positioned for 2018, while the new entry door (by Dometic) has a separate security screen door.

There's also a new solid timber bathroom door, designed in-house at Avida, that features a new captive sliding rail contained within the ceiling with no need for a floor track.

The control panel for power and water is now housed on a panel above the entry door rather than above the kitchen, while the slide-out surround garnish is now bonded with glue instead of screws. This has meant that the panels no longer have unsightly screw head caps as was the case before.

The Birdsville also gets a motorhome-mounted audio system in the fit-out, rather than just in the cab as before, and a reversing camera is now standard.

The Birdsville’s s bathroom is all-new, now offering a longer floorspace with more cupboards, and the optional washing machine can now be stored within a cupboard on the nearside rather than hung from the nearside wall.

The kitchen splash-back is also new, now running the full length of the nearside wall, while the TV is now concealed behind a fold-up cover.

For Esperance, improvements include lockers that now feature hidden latches, while the soft-close drawers are now self-locking. There’s full-cover upholstery at the dinette (the material, either standard Ultra leather or optional leather, now extends to cover the seat bases), as well as shelves at each side of the bed, which has a new base.

The control panel, as with the Birdsville, has been moved to above the entry door in the Esperance but is hidden behind a flip-up cover panel.

Finally, a a wine bottle holder on the nearside adjacent to the kitchen bench lockers is also new for the 2018 Esperance.

Avida spokesman Billy Falconer said that the pre-update fit-out would continue on for now, as it still appealed to a certain demographic.

The updated Fiat Ducato-based four-berth 2018 Birdsville C7444 Slide-Out is $3000 more at $152,100 drive away. The Iveco-based 2018 Esperance C7922 Slide-Out adds $5000 at $191,000 drive-away.

Meanwhile Avida’s caravan range has also come in for a spruce-up for 2018. The Wave and Emerald have now lost their timber-look fit-outs, instead adopting the white finish for ceiling and walls as used with the top of the range model, the Topaz. Despite the new finishes, there are no price rises on Wave or Emerald.
