NSW-based Avida RV is putting its support behind an industry-led program helping young people find satisfying careers.
Avida has supplied one of its caravans to be used as the major focal point of a two-year road show, that helps tackle youth as well as adult unemployment in towns and regions throughout Australia.
The brightly coloured SkillsRoad caravan complete with interactive screens will be on display outside the gates of this week’s Penrith Caravan, Camping, and Holiday Expo, which runs September 9-11 at the Penrith Panther Exhibition Centre in Sydney. Avida is encouraging people to drop by the SkillsRoad caravan and apply for a number of jobs currently available at the NSW manufacturer, as well as talk to representatives from the factory.
The manufacturer currently builds around 500-600 motorhomes and caravans each year, but is looking to increase staff levels from around 200 people as it ramps up production off the back of new models and an expanded dealer network.
Sales and marketing manager Billy Falconer said the company is also looking to double the annual number of traineeships it offers from 15 to 30.
Some of the roles currently available include an apprentice motor trimmer and a traineeship in recreational vehicle manufacturing, as well as more skilled positions in the upholstery, plumbing, cabinet making, welding and after-sales departments.
