Big-selling Sydney motorised RV specialist Avida has released another motorhome based on the smooth-driving and technologically advanced Mercedes-Benz Sprinter platform.
Joining the Fiat-based Escape in Avida's compact campervan line-up, the new rear-wheel drive Avida Diversion is slightly longer than the Escape at 6967mm and shares a similar dark sporty exterior look and twin-berth ensuite layout, including front swivelling seats and a powered drop-down bed over the rear dinette, a kitchenette and combination shower and toilet.
Based on the Mercedes Sprinter Auto LWB chassis and boasting 1.92m interior headroom, it comes standard with an electric sliding door, grey metallic paint, reverse and 360-degree camera and 17inch alloy wheels, with a 93-litre tank providing fuel for the 120kW/360Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Other standard features on the 4100kg GVM camper include 100-litre fresh and 100-litre grey water tanks, a continuous hot water unit, two 4kg gas bottles, a powered awning and entry step, 120Ah battery with 60A charger, a two-burner gas stove and sink with mixer tap, 150-litre compressor fridge, microwave, Smart TV and Bluetooth audio, with a number of options available including an air-conditioner, diesel heater, leather upholstery, removable dinette table, gas bayonet and fly screens for the entry doors.
The new Diversion on-road campervan is being advertised by a number of Avida dealers, including Robert's RV World in Campbellfield, Victoria where there's currently one on display priced at $176,998 drive-away.
It appears the new Diversion campervan is the only Avida model now being offered on the upmarket Mercedes-Benz Sprinter platform, with the Sprinter-based Silverton motorhome introduced in early-2022 no longer being advertised on the Avida website.
