Avan has staged a new model blitz at the Victorian Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow in Melbourne with a range of new pop-top, caravan and motorhome models under the Pakenham, Victoria manufacturer’s Avan, Golf and Knaus brands.
They are amongst a massive 64 separate vehicles on display on Avan’s 2000 square metre stand at the Melbourne Showgrounds – a display only matched in size at the show by Jayco, underscoring Avan’s now-firm grip on ‘number two’ status in the Australian RV market.
As well as the new Knaus Eurostar luxury caravan, Avan unveiled the new $35,000 Avan ‘Ray’ pop-top with a fold-out hard-walled rear double bed, a combined shower-toilet and twin front bunks, a new Golf Savannah Maxxi pop-top with two fold-out beds and a novel full separate shower and toilet ensuite and a stylish new interior for its Fiat Ducato-based Knaus Sun Ti 700 motor home.
?
Of these, the 15ft Savannah 501 Maxxi, priced at $53,500, was perhaps the standout.
?Inspired by the Avan Francis, but featuring the full complement of Golf Savannah off-road gear, including independent trailing-arm coil spring suspension, heightened ground clearance and a beefed-up underpinnings and stone protection, it uses a novel separate shower and toilet ensuite at the rear combined with twin sliding doors to separate the drop-down rear compartment with its 1940mm x 1300mm bed from the rest of the pop-top.
Meanwhile up front there’s a separate, larger 1940mm x 1600mm ‘master’ bed, with a kitchen featuring a new model Thetford 185-litre fridge-freezer in between.
?
With a Tare weight of 1630kg and an ATM of 1930kg, it’s expected to appeal to travelling families who want to venture off the blacktop without having to upsize their tow vehicle.
?
The Avan Ray 490 pop-top from $35,897 (or $37,197 as displayed), is an even more affordable family-friendly option on display, with a slide-out hard-walled rear bed, a side combined shower-toilet ensuite and a front lounge than converts into three separate single bunk beds.
?
Finally Avan showed off its latest, German-sourced Knaus Sun Ti 700 motorhome, featuring a classy new interior, highlighted by a pedestal mounted, island double bed at the rear, priced at around $155,000 on the road.
