Australia’s most expensive caravan?

Ground-breaking 26ft Kedron caravan set to break price record at Queensland Supershow

Bushtracker stunned showgoers at last year’s Victorian Caravan Supershow when it stuck a $172,000 price tag on a 20ft family bunk van. But Queensland rival Kedron could easily surpass that with its latest show-stopping, feature-packed 26ft triple axle caravan set to be unveiled at this year’s Queensland Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow (June 6-11).

The 55-year-old premium off-road caravan builder has been drip-feeding information about the custom-built 26ft TopEnder Tri-Axle TE’7 van on social media in recent weeks, as the Kedron factory races against the clock to get the massive project finished in time for the show.

With triple axles and loaded with features, a Tare approaching four tonnes isn't out of the question

According to Kedron, the money-no-object, apartment-on-wheels was commissioned by an experienced caravanner who will tow the expected four tonne-plus monster van with an American RAM truck.

Promising a number of Australian caravan ‘firsts’, the custom-build TE’7 will feature a trick new Kedron suspension system. It's also the first Kedron van fitted with ‘Kooltherm’ roof insulation and ‘Air-Cell’ wall insulation, sourced from building insulation specialist Kingspan.

New Air-Cell insulation should keep you cooler in the tropics

A whopping 900Ah Enerdrive lithium battery system, fed by 800W solar panels and with twin inverters will help run all the custom appliances fitted, which extend to two compressor fridges, a dishwasher, heated seats, Bose sound system, two TVs, heated towel rails and an instantaneous hot water system that pumps out chilled and boiling water.

The lengthy layout includes a closed off bedroom area with huge storage, and a house-size 3.2m long kitchen with dual bowl sinks.

More heavy metal than a Metallica concert!

Not to be outdone, Kedron will also have on display at the Supershow a new lithium-powered 24ft triple bunk XC-5 model, as well as two new 16ft CP’5 and CP’3 Compact caravans.

New standard features across Kedron’s 2018 model range include an American-style electric front jack in lieu of a jockey wheel, new CAD-designed alloy front tool boxes that incorporate everything from a diesel heater to a tap, and a range of sleek new CAD-designed exterior storage slides, including one that will carry a small outboard motor.

900Ah lithium battery system should keep the air-con running

The Compact models are also fitted with another Kedron ‘first’: a lift-up, padded and insulated ‘solar’ awning over the front window that incorporates LED lighting and a flexible solar panel, in addition to any roof-mounted solar panels.

Look out for a full wrap-up, including pricing and weights, of the crowd-pulling Kedron 26ft show van, later next week.
