The whole of Tasmania: can't fault the whole place for low cost camping and amazing places to visit from oceans to mountains.
Broken Heads in NSW. The beach is spectacular - can walk for miles without encountering anybody. Great views from the Headland - up and down the coast line -- and the caravan park is in a great position,.
Capertee Valley (NSW) is the best place to camp as it feels like we are so far away from the city and it offers great views from all directions with plenty of fun to be had bushwalking and splashing in the creek.
We love camping in Narooma (NSW) as it is a little hidden gem between Batemans Bay and Merimbula and has so many sights and things to do.
Free camping along the Tumut River, Tumut (NSW): It’s a beautiful place, quiet, awesome fishing, and great listening to the river rolling over rapids.
Wombeyan Caves (NSW): Beautiful, spacious sites, enough amenities, easy and affordable for groups, caves not commercialised and tours very informative, native kangaroos and something for everyone to do.
Stradbroke Island (Queensland): nothing better than waking up on the beach with your four legged best friend.
The PUNT @ Bundalong (Victoria): On the river bank - relax, fish, walk and enjoy the sounds of wildlife. Great for kids

Mole Creek Caravan Park (Tasmania) is great; $21/day, walking Cradle Mountain, touching Tassie Devils, wombats, qualls, watching platypus, relaxing by the campfire, smelling the marsh mellows melting...
The best place would be Balnarring Beach Reserve (Victoria), because of its low key natural surroundings, close to Melbourne suburbs for short travels on a weekend and it's on a beautiful beach.
Whroo forest (Victoria): we didn't see anybody else for almost a week. The first signs of life, apart from the wild type, were family.
Dunns Swamp (NSW) in the National Park. The mysterious pagoda rock formations, the friendly wildlife and the atmosphere around the dam make for a fabulous time.
Bay of Fires, Tasmania. Free camping on the beach with reasonable facilities. Can't beat it.
Wilmington in South Australia is pretty little spot with a creek behind the caravan park and close to the national park with lots of walks.
Green Patch Jervis Bay (NSW) for crystal clear water, fine white sand, wild life and large campsites.
We enjoy camping at Alford on the Yorke Peninsula. Small town but very friendly people who come around each day to check that everything is OK.
South West Rocks, NSW. The location and tranquility is best by far. We go three times a year. Love it all year round.
Cottontree Caravan Park on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. Great up to date and clean facilities. Incredible location on Maroochy River. Highly recommended.
Meningie South Australia on the shore of Lake Albert. We were right on the lakeside, and were very lucky with the weather. Countless pelicans.
Karrajini National Park, Western Australia. The beauty and variation of the gorges is breathtaking and uniquely Australian.

Curtis Island, Queensland. Idyllic paradise location with nearly no-one else around. Great fishing spot.
Best camping place in Australia is at Boggy Hole west of Alice Springs in the Finke River National Park. Beautiful red rock surrounded by clear blue skies and of course a lovely water hole.
Yetman (NSW) is one of my favourite little places to stay. Small town welcomes you, little pub, easy walk from the caravan, only $10 a night, showers, laundry and toilets all provided. And a tennis court if you're keen to have a go.
Lightning Ridge (NSW): It's different to most other places you visit.
Inskip Point, Queensland: It is such a relaxing place to go camping and simply chill out with the family.
Free camping at Kakadu (Northern Territory) and stepping back in time, all while enjoying the creature comforts.
Vulkathunha-Gammon Ranges National Park, Grindells Hut (South Australia). Rugged beauty and so far away from everything. Great walks and camp oven cooking...
Derby WA. Easy access to Horizontal Falls, Broome, Tunnel Creek. Fabulous caravan park.
Tathra Beach NSW. It has the most beautiful beaches and the local people are so friendly. Have been going there for years and it hasn't changed, is still the most peaceful and magical destination.
Camping in 1770, Qld was the best ever. Untouched by 'progress', water ways pristine, most magnificent sunsets I have ever experienced,
On our son's acreage. Four months in the company of alpacas, hives of bees, pet dogs, a cat, kangaroos, parrots, wildlife and yes, family.
Potato Point, near Bodalla, NSW. Lovely off-the-grid park right on the beach. Abundant wildlife, kangaroos, emus, goanna, and a sea eagle.
Streaky Bay Caravan Park, on the beach (South Australia): beautiful bay to swim and fish, great meals at the footy club, unique area to visit.
Colo River in the Hawkesbury district NSW: no phone reception and getting the kids out and about to enjoy the experience.
Best place camping is at Beechworth caravan park (Victoria), they have all the facilities you would need. Beechworth is an historic town and a fascinating place to visit.
DoC camps in New Zealand with a rented van. In particular the Lake Van Doc camp on the way to Milford Sound. Beautiful clear Lake, stunning mountains, we were the only campers apart from a Japanese tour bus who made a brief 10 min stop to take our picture.
Kings Canyon, NT. Spacious caravan park with good amenities and easy access to Kings Canyon which was magnificent.
Wilpena Pound South Australia. Remote, spectacular and perfectly set up camping areas.
A few years back we camped at Uluru. Being able to camp in close proximity to this incredible Australian icon was amazing.
Lucky Bay at Esperance WA where you are always lucky enough to enjoy friendly kangaroos on the beach.
Innit Springs, North Queensland. What better place to meet new people than sitting in a pool of natural hot water in the middle of winter.
Lake Buchann in Qld. A bit off the track but you could smell the serenity. Sunset over the lake breathtaking.
Lees Reserve Yelarbon (Qld): quiet, plenty of room so that you are not right next door to your neighbours. The river nearby -- bush camping at its best.
Exmouth WA as there is many things to see and do in the area. If it's windy on the west coast there is many kilometres of sheltered coast in the gulf.
Coward Springs Campground on the Oodnadatta Track with its huge sky.
Clayton Springs on the Birdsville track. Spent a beautiful night under the Southern Cross while basking in the huge spa, compliments of the station.
Wangi Falls Litchfield National Park NT is just a fabulous part of Australia -- swimming, camp fire, family. What's not to love?
Blackdown Tableland Qld was a huge surprise when we stumbled across it. With shear cliffs to the plains below, a beautiful waterfall and pristine creek.
The best place we have been camping is Halls Gap, Victoria. The area is suitable for a wide variety of age groups.
On the cliffs overlooking the Australian Bight. Alone and at peace with the world. Whales swimming below us. What more could you ask for?
Bungle Bungles, Western Australia. After a hard ride it became apparent it was worth it. The rock formations were must amazing especially at sunset.
Warrnambool (Victoria) in winter! Walloping whales, windy walks, wondrous views, white-capped waves, wonderful eateries, welcoming shops and restaurants. Warm and snug in our caravan!
Murray River between Albury and Jingellic as we had the whole place to ourselves.
St Leonard’s Vic, original camp ground, never renovated in the 50 years I’ve been there, camping in the 70s has kept my youth and sanity.
Fraser Island, Qld. Varying sites to visit and explore and awesome campsites.
Karma Waters (Queensland). the most beautiful camping experience. Camps not close to each other water amazing. Just an awesome place.
Hat Head in NSW. Beautiful spot with a fantastic bay and headland, which is great for swimming, walking, fishing, whale watching, bowls club and relaxing.
Favourite ever was in Yellowstone, USA. Incredible location.
Bright, Victoria is a beautiful place I've visited very year for 30 years. Love it. High mountains, valleys, rivers to swim in.
Halden, Norway: you can camp in the shadows of a medieval castle, and enjoy a modern harbour city after an easy walk.
Yorke Peninsula, SA. Amazing views, welcoming residents. Country town feel and best traditional cornish pasties in Australia. Best kept secret in Australia as no crowds.
Loch sport,Ninety Mile Beach resort (Victoria): great spot, plenty of open area for camping, cabins, and only 9km from the Loch Sport township. Great fishing.
Coolum Beach (Qld) where we were only a stone's throw away from the surf. Great to hear high tide at night, almost sounds like it's rolling under the van.
We loved staying at Gilmartens Beach on the Victorian side of the Murray River just up stream of Tocumwal. It is unspoiled and has lovely wide sandy beaches and is a great place for children.
A place called Red Bluff in WA, right on the ocean - wild seas and the fantastic sounds of the waves for going off to sleep.
In my front driveway the first night I bought my new RV home. It felt like the most exotic place in Oz.
