If you reckon a Jayco caravan is boring and even something like this a bit ho-hum, then a Victorian DIY caravan enthusiast has built something truly unique, and it's up for sale.
The product of a very vivid imagination, the 'Crazy Caravan' was built by John 'Rabbit' Warren over a period of around nine months, and is currently parked in the driveway of his home in Craigieburn in Melbourne's north -- incidentally, not that far from the factories of dozens of mainstream caravan manufacturers in nearby Somerton and Campbellfield where the majority of Australia's caravans are built.
Clearly impressed by his Dad's handiwork, John's son Paul has uploaded a 12 minute video on the 'Crazy Caravan' which he describes as "pretty creative and innovative, you'll never see something like this again".
"Dad has completed thousands of amazing and sometimes, crazy projects during his lifetime... It has pretty much everything a caravan could possibly ever have in it," Paul says.
John told the Star Weekly that building the radical RV was a way of overcoming mental and physical difficulties, including serious back problems that kept him out of work for around 10 years.
“What threw me out of whack was the depression, that was just two years in bed. I just didn’t know which way to go, what to actually do. It just pulled me down so bad,” he said.
“I try to keep a positive outlook by doing these sorts of things and keeping busy.”
