But one of the more colourful and creative rebirthing projects has to be this Melbourne-based 1970s caravan that was recently converted to a mobile party room for holding kids’ art, craft and disco parties.
Following her dream to create an arty business while juggling parental duties, Rebecca Hoareau recently kicked off Passion Art Parties, offering parents a fun and stress-free, fully catered party option wherever there's room to set up the van. According to Rebecca, the 1970s caravan was originally purchased for family holidays, before she got the idea of turning it into a “travelling art party” business.
With the help of family it took three months to finish the extensive interior and exterior makeover, which includes new cabinetry, paint and decorations. There's now built-in children’s activities including two separate seating areas for creating arts and craft, although the caravan will still function as a mobile home with the lounges converted to beds and a kitchen with fridge, cooktop and oven.
Since launching in August, the van has hosted private parties as well as attended various events including a local primary school fete recently, where some appropriately ghoulish decorations were added to fit the Halloween theme (pictured).
“I have always had a passion for art and I love the fact I can now share my passion with so many kids and parents around Melbourne,” she said. “It's always been my dream to have a space to run my parties from and now I'm living that dream.”
Passion Art Parties will come to your house to run a kids’ party, as long as there’s room to park the van, with party packages starting at $350. Parties can also be held outside her house for a discounted rate, or the van can be hired overnight for slumber parties.
The business caters mostly to locals in the south-eastern Melbourne and bayside suburbs although will travel further afield for an additional fee.
