The Queensland owner of one of Australia's most popular camper trailer and hybrid caravan brands, has won a major industry leadership and business award.
Austrack Campers owner Linden Lawson was recently announced the winner in the Industry category of the 2025 EY Entrepreneur Of The Year, presented by Ernst & Young Australia. The Brisbane-based entrepreneur beat a number of other finalists in the Industry category, including Tom Jacob (Ironman 4x4), Aemel Nordin (Polyaire), Lenka Dransfield (CAL Marketing), Kerrie Munro (Munro Footwear Group), and Suzanne Dodds (Complete Home Filtration).
After purchasing Austrack Campers in 2015 Lawson made a number of strategic changes, including relocating manufacturing offshore and expanding the nationwide dealer network and model range, that has resulted in the Brisbane-based business becoming a major force in the Australian RV industry.
"When I bought the business we were manufacturing in-house but everybody was starting to get into importing and we had to follow suit so we wouldn’t be left behind,” Lawson recently told The Australian.
“We design the product and they’re built offshore. We bring them here in containers and we assemble them.”
Under his leadership the Austrack range has also substantially expanded to cater to a wider range of buyers and different budgets, with prices now starting at $18,990 for a lightweight family tent trailer and rising to $84,990 for the latest full height couples hybrid caravan that's purpose built for luxury off-grid camping.
Other notable achievements include expanding the dealer network from one to 11 showrooms, located across Queensland, NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia, while the business now boasts around 70 staff and has been recognized with other industry accolades including a Camper Trailer of the Year award.
The Austrack owner has also acquired a number of other investments and businesses over the years, including the popular McHitch couplings.
“Linden Lawson embodies the essence of entrepreneurship. His passion, innovation, and customer focus make him a deserving recipient of this prestigious award,” the EY Entrepreneur of the Year judges said.
"Since taking the helm in 2015, Linden has transformed Austrack Campers into a formidable force, with the group of companies achieving nearly $170 million in revenue and capturing a significant 9% market share."
The annual EY Entrepreneur Of The Year program was launched in Australia in 2001, and also recognises industry leaders in a number of other categories including Social Impact, Services, Emerging, and Technology.
