Aussie motorhomes on the rise

Local industry on track to crack 20,000 RVs built for the seventh year running
The Australian RV manufacturing industry remains flat, with production in the first half of 2017 similar to last year's, according to figures put out by the Caravan Industry Association of Australia.
Local RV production to the end of June was 10,817 units, up 0.3 per cent on the same period in 2016. Most of that was towable RVs (camper trailers and caravans), which accounted for 10,194 (year-to-date) -- down 1.1 per cent year-on-year.
While still relatively low, production of motorised RVs (campervans and motorhomes) continues to rise, accounting for 623 units to the end of June (up 5.2 per cent year-on-year).
This is off the back of new motorhome models introduced by market leaders Jayco and Avida, along with increased demand reported by smaller brands like Horizon Motorhomes.
Based on these figures the local industry is on track to crack 20,000 production for the seventh year running. According to the peak body, a total of 21,841 recreational vehicles were built locally in 2016 (20,554 towable RVs and 1287 motorises); a 4.5 per cent drop on the previous year.
