A UK tourist driving an Avida Sydney-built rental motorhome in NSW has been issued a hefty fine after being caught travelling 43km/h over the speed limit.
Riverina Highway Patrol Wagga Wagga said it detected the Fiat Ducato-based C-Class motorhome travelling northbound on the Hume Highway in Tumblong, at an alleged speed of 153km/h in the signposted 110km/h hour zone.
"The 23 year old male driver was submitted to both breath and drug testing, returning negative results," NSW Traffic and Highway Patrol Command reported on Facebook. "He produced an international UK driver licence, and had three passengers in the vehicle.
"The driver was issued with a $1097 infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 30km/h, and his driving privileges were immediately withdrawn for a period of three months."
