Melbourne's Atlantic Caravans is the latest manufacturer to target the growing number of first-time caravan buyers, with a new range of budget-priced but well-equipped, full-height entry-level touring caravans, available with both couple and family layouts.
The new timber-framed, white ribbed aluminum clad Atlantic 'X' range of compact caravans is available in body lengths ranging from 13ft 10in to 16ft 6in and pitched at buyers with smaller, less capable tow vehicles, with Tare weights around 1600-1700kg and an ATM of 2500kg.

Three of the new Atlantic X caravans are currently advertised online by Atlantic dealers, including a rear door, 13ft 10in couple's ensuite van and a side door, 14ft 8in family bunk model at Rosebud, Victoria based Our Van RV.
The 13ft 10in couple's van features an east-west double bed, 2-3 person lounge/dinette, kitchenette and separate shower and toilet, while the 14ft 8in family van gets an east-west double bed, lounge-dinette, kitchenette and twin 2000mm x 750mm bunk beds.

Both vans ride on a galvanised chassis with 50mm ball coupling, Dexter Torflex independent suspension, 12in electric brakes and 15in alloy wheels.
The vans also come equipped with two 9kg gas bottles, two 95 litre fresh water tanks, single 100Ah AGM battery and 170W rooftop solar panel, external shower, roll-out awning, A-frame tap and gas bayonet, while inside appliances include a gas/electric hot water, roof-top air-conditioner, 174 litre fridge/freezer, twin gas burner cooktop, sink, rangehood and microwave.

With $51-52,000 driveaway pricing, the new Atlantic X-model vans sit just under Atlantic's more rough-road oriented and smooth sided Weekender model which starts at around $55,000.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2020, Campbellfield, Victoria-based Atlantic is best known for its larger on- and off-road vans including the Hi-Terrain, Endeavour and Signature models.
