ARB has released a new long range ‘plastic’ fuel tank that it says is less than half the weight of a comparative steel tank.
According to ARB, the one-piece Frontier tank is made from impact and corrosion-resistant plastic polymer, and utilises existing vehicle mounting points. Wall thickness is from 7-9mm and each tank is individually pressure tested.
It’s made in Australia and comes with a three year warranty.
The new Frontier tank is currently available on a range of models including Ford Ranger, Holden Colorado, Isuzu D-MAX and MU-X, Mazda BT-50, Toyota HiLux and 79 series Toyota LandCruiser.
Tank size varies from 112 to 180 litres depending on model, with pricing (including fitting) around the $1100-$1200 mark.
ARB is also working on versions for the Volkswagen Amarok, Mitsubishi Pajero and Triton, Nissan GU Patrol, Nissan Navara and the 200 Series LandCruiser.
