After much speculation it’s been confirmed the European caravan brand that paved the way for the recent influx of British imports has a new distributor Down Under.
After seven years as the official Australian importer of Slovenian-built Adria caravans, Queensland's R.V Asia-Pacific will hand over the reins to Apollo Motorhome Holidays on March 1. Also based in Queensland, Apollo is one of Australia’s biggest rental motorhome companies and the manufacturer of Talvor caravans and campervans.
However, R.V Asia Pacific general manager, Chris Swann, has assured existing Adria owners that current factory back-up and dealer support arrangements will continue unchanged.
“The change of importer will not affect the distribution of Adria caravans as a smooth takeover has been scheduled,” he said in a statement. “All existing Adria warranties will continue to be fully supported. Adria parts and accessories will continue to be available through established Adria dealers.”
Swann said that “executives from Adria head office in Novo mesto, Slovenia, recently made a visit to Australia to ensure all dealers and support services will remain in place”.
He also told Caravanning News that R.V Asia-Pacific, part of the Grand Motors group, would cease to exist after the hand-over, but that it had not been forced to relinquish the distributorship.
“But it has been difficult to maintain a profitable operation,” he said. “Had we continued, we would have incurred losses."
Last year R.V Asia-Pacific claimed 1000 sales of new Adria caravans in Australia since 2006. Adria was first established in Europe in 1965 and the manufacturer of lightweight caravans and motorhomes today exports to 30 countries around the world.
