Following a successful listing on the Australian Stock Exchange, Apollo Tourism & Leisure has expanded its business by purchasing a large Sydney RV dealership and investing in an AirBnB-style peer-to-peer sharing economy platform for recreational vehicle owners. Apollo has paid $1.75million for the Sydney RV Group, one of Australia’s biggest RV dealerships, which sold around 900 new and used caravans and motorhomes last year. Director and general manager Norman Roe will continue to manage the Penrith-based dealership. He owned 25 per cent of the group and received 50 per cent cash and 50 per cent Apollo shares at $1.386 each.
Sydney RV Group also sells accessories and parts and insurance, finance and warranty products, alongside a repairs and servicing department.
Apollo plans to sell its range of Winnebago and Adria caravans and motorhomes as well as ex-rental vehicles from the Sydney dealership. The Brisbane-based company runs a fleet of 3000 rental vehicles across Australia, New Zealand and the USA.
Apollo’s investment in Camplify, Australia’s largest caravan and RV sharing community, was a further $1.75 million, to deliver a 25 per cent share holding in the NRMA-backed start-up.
Launched in 2014, Camplify is an online RV sharing community that connects caravan and motorhome owners anywhere in Australia with people looking to rent these vehicles.
