AOR signs off on successful 25th year

Acclaimed Queensland off-road hybrid manufacturer wraps up 2025 on a positive note

Queensland's AOR (Australian Off Road) has labelled its 25th year in business as "another fantastic" milestone for the highly regarded off-road hybrid caravan manufacturer.

In a note to owners and prospective buyers, AOR said it had built the same amount of campers this year as in 2024 (approximately 180), delivered to buyers throughout Australia as well as the US.

Other significant achievements included winning People’s Choice RV Manufacturer of the Year at the 2025 National Caravan Industry Association Awards, and rolling out new customer service initiatives including 24/7 emergency assistance and ChatAOR AI, which it claims is "Australia's first AI chatbot for off-road support".

AOR's campers are favoured by extreme Outback travellers

After launching the 17ft 6in Matrix 5 in 2024, AOR's biggest product release in 2025 was the Sierra 2.0; a makeover of the entry-level pod camper first sold in 2019.

"Lighter, tougher and more functional than ever" according to AOR, and with pricing starting from $54,900, changes for the Sierra 2.0 included a larger 80L fridge cavity, expanded kitchen bench space, lightweight aluminium cabinetry and a new electrical layout that delivers additional storage under the bed.

The Sierra 2.0 also stepped up from the original in regards to standard features, with 200L water storage and a 240Ah lithium battery with Redarc electricals part of the package.

This year AOR also offered for the first time a full electric 'gas free' option (including larger battery systems and internal/external induction cooktops), for its (from $144,900) Matrix and (from $139,900) Matrix Pop Top hybrid models.

AOR in 2025 also took the bold, cost-cutting approach of replacing displays at larger caravan shows with a series of 'pop-ups' at Ironman 4x4 outlets around the country.

The RV manufacturer celebrated its 25th anniversary in June, with a staff day and public open day at its 5500m2 Caloundra factory and showroom where it employs around 100 people.

Sweet success! AOR Quantum model kicked off the hybrid caravan craze down under

In a Youtube video founder Steve Budden said AOR had come a long way since starting off in his carport with a $5000 credit card in 2000.

"I looked around and saw what was available at the time and believed I could do a lot better," he said.

The Sunshine Coast manufacturer also reported it had now sold more than 20 campers in the USA; four years after it appointed its first American dealer, Las Vegas-based XGrid Campers.

However, AOR also said it will cease taking orders for its higher-priced Aurora, Sinergi and Quantum Full Height hybrid caravan models from February 2026, for a period of two years.

"This decision allows our team to focus on upcoming projects, model development, and production planning to ensure we continue delivering the highest quality off road campers that you expect from AOR," the manufacturer said.

As for other future plans, AOR said that 2026 "will bring new initiatives (and) fresh innovations".

"We’ve got a number of exciting projects in the pipeline for 2026," the business said.
