Queensland’s Australian Off Road has just plugged a gap in the hybrid camper trailer market that most of its rivals have missed.
The new 14ft Quantum Full Height adds another dimension to AOR’s most popular Super Camper, and is due to be previewed to visitors at its new factory owned and operated West Gosford (NSW) Service Centre on April 27, ahead of its public debut at the NSW Caravan, Camping Holiday Supershow in Sydney.
Adding a hardtop roof to the Quantum addresses what AOR sees as a growing preference for remote area travellers to embrace the great outdoors for the lifestyle, but wanting even better dust-proofing and to enjoy the security and greater comfort of a full-height caravan at night.
At its introductory-price of $106,900 - $2000 under its RRP of $108,900 – the Quantum Hardtop initially will cost $11,000 less than AOR’s single-axle range-topping Matrix IV and $7000 more than the Quantum Pop-Top, but General Manager Russell Evans says potential purchasers will not be conflicted.
“The Quantum Hardtop is our ultimate super camper for customers who put a priority on outdoor living,” he said. ”The Matrix is more focussed on indoor living, although you can also cook outdoors.”
Evans said the new model was introduced in response to requests from many potential customers in Australia’s southern States, where there are fewer opportunities to enjoy outdoor living at home, but who wanted to embrace it on trips north.
“We expect the Quantum Pop-Top will remain the more popular model, but the Hardtop will be an appealing alternative for many,” he said.
To sweeten the Hardtop’s business case, it comes loaded with some items that are optional on the base Quantum Pop Top. While incorporating the Quantum Pop Top’s combined shower and 140 litre capacity macerator toilet and full L-shaped stainless-steel external kitchen, the new model comes standard with twin 100AH lithium batteries in place of the base model’s heavier lead-acid units, and a 1000W sine wave inverter, so that it can be used when camping off the grid.
Buyers can choose between a north-south queen bed layout with an optional transverse single bunk bed above its head, or twin single beds.
Overall dimensions of the 14ft (internal length) Hardtop remain similar to the Pop Top at 1950mm wide, although its Tare weight at 1840kg is 70kg more.
Those unable to attend the AOR Service NSW Open Day at Unit 1/3 Comserv Close, West Gosford, on April 27 from 8am until 12pm, can view the unveiling of the new Quantum Hardtop via a live stream on AOR’s Facebook page.
