Majestic Caravans has a short but impressive history of getting behind worthy causes, and this year will be no different.
The Melbourne-based caravan manufacturer is donating a Majestic Knight twin-axle Anniversary model to this year’s Good Friday Easter Appeal, which raises money for Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital.
Majestic has donated five caravans previously to the Appeal’s online auction, raising more than $240,000.
"It's one of the best causes I think in Victoria,” explained Majestic Caravans’ Liz Naumoski. “(In 2007) we thought we'd donate to one charity every year, and that was our first choice.”
As part of the company’s 10th anniversary celebrations the decision was made to donate one of the latest, 19ft 6in Anniversary models, valued at $60,000.
“Usually we give them the single axle with the shower/toilet and that usually goes for around $45,000, but we thought because it's been a big year for us, we'll give them something a bit different,” she said.
On display at the 2012 Victorian Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow, the new-look, Majestic Knight Anniversary model features a new, smooth-finish aluminium body and more modern interior including new “lightweight, domestic style” furniture.
Along with a Queen-sized innerspring bed, four-person dinette and full ensuite including porcelain toilet and fibreglass shower unit, the two-berth luxury caravan includes two 60 litre water tanks, Wineguard antenna, Four Seasons hatch, LED downlights, oven and microwave, 185 litre fridge/freezer, water filter, air-conditioning, CD/DVD entertainment unit, external picnic table and speakers, roll-out awning, and rough-road suspension.
The auction site will open one week before the Good Friday Appeal for early bids and continues until 6pm on Good Friday (April 6), when the final bids are announced during the Channel 7 telethon.
See the Good Friday Appeal website for further details.
