Popular Chinese brand Ezytrail is making its first real play for a slice of the lucrative grey nomad market, with the release of its first full-size, fixed height touring caravan in Australia.
Sporting a similar European-style aero look to Ezytrail’s Winton 10 mini caravan, the new 18ft Ezytrail Winton 18 Twin is only available in a two-berth couple’s layout, with a decent list of standard equipment and priced competitively from $56,990.
Constructed with a lightweight galvanised chassis, and using aluminium sandwich panels for the roof and walls, a one piece honeycomb composite panel for the floor and a GRP front mould, the Ezytrail Winton 18 weighs in with a Tare of 2100kg and ATM of 2500kg.
Maximum ball loading is 300kg, and an exterior body length of 6000mm and 2110mm body width delivers an internal height of 1995mm. Overall height is 3050mm.
Aimed at highway tourers, the tandem axle Winton 18 rides on seven leaf roller rocker suspension with shock absorbers and 15in alloy wheels with highway terrain tyres, and is also fitted with 10in electric brakes and a 50mm ball coupling.
A highlight of the inviting two-berth interior layout is a roomy leatherette-covered front club lounge, which comes with a collapsible table and is the “largest full sized internal club lounge in the market”, according to Ezytrail.
Other Euro-style touches are the large 1000mm x 600mm curved polycarbonate moon-roof above the lounge, and “European wood textured paneling and a soft neutral colour scheme".
There’s also a centrally located combination shower/toilet and galley with benchtop sink, four burner cooktop/grille and 152 litre compressor fridge, with a full-width 2030mm x 1830mm double bed with ‘multidensity’ foam mattress located at the rear.
The Ezytrail Winton 18 also comes standard with a 9kg gas bottle holder, external picnic table, roll-out awning, two 80 litre fresh water tanks, a four speaker Bluetooth audio system, 24in HDTV and aerial, roof-top air conditioner, roof hatch, 14 litre gas/electric hot water unit, a twin 100Ah battery system, and internal/external lighting.
Exterior storage options included a nose cone storage compartment and LED-lit side and rear tunnel boots, while inside there are overhead lockers along with a number of drawers under the bed and in the kitchen.
In business for around 13 years, Melbourne-based Ezytrail started out selling cheap Chinese tent trailers before expanding into pricier hybrid campers and off-road pop-top caravans.
“This is our first foray into the (on-road) caravan market with a full sized caravan,” explained Ezytrail Marking Manager Jordarne Oakes.
Another selling point of the new Winton 18 caravan is unlike other Ezytrail models, it comes with an extended warranty on the C-Channel F3 chassis and drawbar.
“We offer a lifetime structural warranty on this for gazetted roads (essentially any roads that are named on a Google/Apple maps),” she said.
The Winton 18 joins a growing number of Chinese-built, full-size composite caravans available in Australia, including models from Snowy River, Goldstar and newcomer NewGen.
