AFL footballers can’t get enough of the caravanning lifestyle it seems, with goal-kicking star Jeremy Cameron the latest to hitch up a new van for family adventures.
Fresh off a seven goal haul against top team Collingwood at the MCG, the Geelong full forward and his young family recently picked up their brand-new, 19ft 6in Hardcore off-road model from the Titanium Caravans factory in Campbellfield in Melbourne’s north.
According to Titanium’s Marketing and Brand Manager, Liam Wilson, Cameron along with his wife Indi and four-month-old baby Macey towed the caravan away in their Ford Everest for its first ‘shakedown’ run to a family retreat.
“He loves his camping and caravanning, and he has a hobby farm in Colac that he spends a lot of time at,” Wilson explained.
“They’ve got a newborn and they also plan to go travelling Australia in the future when he retires.”
The 30-year old footballer was part of the 2022 AFL premiership-winning team and is reportedly one of the highest earning players in the AFL.
Wilson said Cameron also plans to go caravanning with some of his team-mates during the AFL off-season, possibly joining fellow Geelong team-mate Paddy Dangerfield who is a brand ambassador for Lotus Caravans.
The mid-range, 2023-build Hardcore bunk van boasts a very comfy, family-friendly layout including parents’ east-west queen bed, kitchen and lounge-dinette, along with double bunks and a separate shower and toilet up back.
It’s specced up for off-road, off-grid touring, including Cruisemaster XT Coil suspension with disc brakes and 16in alloys, 245L water storage, and a 200Ah lithium battery system with 600W rooftop solar as part of the standard package.
Pricing for the mid-spec Hardcore vans usually starts around the $130,000 mark, although Cameron is paying a bit more with an optional premium rear bar also fitted to the 3500kg ATM-rated family van.
On hand for the latest ‘celebrity’ hand-over were Titanium owners Carl Browne and Nicole and Jason Grech, who started Titanium Caravans in 2012 with his father Joe in a small factory.
Taking on more established Queensland caravan builders like Kedron and Bushtracker, Titanium vans are now built with an aluminium frame construction in a purpose-built 5000sqm factory in Melbourne’s north.
“Jason started Titanium when he was only 19 years old, and now we’re one of the biggest luxury off-road caravan manufacturers in Australia,” Wilson said.
Benefitting from a big presence on social media, Titanium Caravans has developed a reputation for building some of Australia’s most luxurious off-grid caravans, highlighted by the circa $250K, 20ft 6in Titanium Hardcore ATX show-stopper displayed at this year’s NSW Caravan Supershow.
The fast-growing Melbourne caravan builder is also leading the way in custom metal fabricated toolboxes, rear bars and slide-out kitchens, which are designed and manufactured by sister company Wolf Fabrications in nearby Coolaroo.
Wilson said Titanium has now sold around 10 caravans to AFL players including Melbourne defender Jake Lever and ex-Hawthorn champ Josh Gibson.
Another ex-AFL player Jake King is also behind the new Touring Hub multi-brand caravan dealership that opened up recently in Melbourne's north.
