Another $1million truck motorhome arrives

Ford F-550 truck-based Bedrock XT2 by Krug Expedition is a survivalist camper's dream-come-true

What do you get when an Austrian off-road motorhome manufacturer partners up with an Icelandic automotive business famous for building extreme adventure vehicles?

The answer is the six-wheel truck based Bedford XT2 expedition vehicle, which is based on a modified Ford F-550 pick-up from Arctic Trucks, better known for its Toyota HiLux monster utes, with the luxury motorhome body added on by Krug Expedition.

"Arctic Trucks are on the forefront of polar transportation, and Krug brings over a decade of experience in building expedition grade trucks and 230-plus finished projects to the table," it says on the Krug Expedition website.

"Bedrock XT2 is a one of a kind 6x4 off-road machine converting a luxury variant of the Ford Super Duty F-550 and bringing it to the next level with suspension and chassis frame reliability."

Built specifically for the American market, the Bedrock XT2 mega-motorhome uses Arctic Trucks' AT44 XT-2 Ford F-550 Super Cab pick-up powered by a 6.7-litre V8 turbo-diesel V8 and 10-speed auto. The 6.68m long by 2.45m wide by 3.7m off-road motorhome rides on eight-link rear air suspension with disc brakes and semi-automatic tyre inflation also part of the standard package.

Krug Expedition created the insulated over-cab motorhome module using reinforced sandwich panels, with the fit-out comprising a king bed and 24in TV up front, a shower/toilet enclosure, kitchenette, and rear seating with dining table and another 32in Smart TV at the back, in a club lounge style format.

Kitchen appliances include an induction cooktop and a 226 litre compressor fridge/freezer, while the bathroom gets a waterless toilet, sink, mirror, cupboard and separate shower.
