All-American BRS Sherpa returns down under

Aussie-designed, fully-loaded hardcore pod camper now available again in Australia

Remember the hardcore, feature-packed Sherpa pod trailer from BRS Offroad?

The BRS Sherpa and the larger BRS Pursuit hybrid were originally built in NSW before founder Ben Souter moved production to the USA where the two models are sold at a number of North American dealers.

Now the boutique brand is back in Australia, with the latest Gen 3 Sherpa displayed for the first time at the 2026 Geelong Outdoor Living Caravan Expo in Victoria.

The Aussie/American Gen 3 Sherpa is being sold locally by Victoria-based Silverback Campers, and includes a number of updates from the original model including fresh body styling, improved storage, new fibreglass front and rear, new hot water shower tent and heavy-duty batwing awning, and upgraded climate control for the cosy interior including diesel heating and optional air conditioning.

Silverback Campers' owner Shane Merrkotter says the latest Gen 3 available for sale in Australia has "absolutely everything in it that you could possibly imagine", including a 12V air conditioner, diesel water and air heating and glycol chassis heating to prevent water pipes freezing in sub-zero temperatures.

Other standard features you don't normally find on a pod camper include Terraform airbag suspension with ride height sensors, a leather-lined interior with full size queen mattress, 140L fresh water tank, air compressor, a 270Ah lithium battery system, Garmin digital switching, and a thumping Fusion stereo and 23in TV.

The Gen 3 Sherpa also comes with a DO-35 coupling, Ark jockey wheel, Joolca shower cube, a Bush Company awning, twin gas bottles, two 30L drawer fridges, a gas cooker, and digital mapping.

The unique aluminium, stainless steel and fibreglass construction features a hollow section aluminium chassis with extra-long drawbar for greater maneuverability out in the bush, with another highlight the vault-like, remote-access side entry doors.

The 4.45m long (overall), 2.06m wide and 2.1m high Sherpa also delivers a super lightweight Tare of between 920kg–1150kg, and an ATM of 2000kg. Roof racks and a rooftop tent (which turns the Sherpa into a family camper) are on the options list.

The fully loaded, Aussie-spec Gen 3 Sherpa had a $117,000 price tag at the show, which puts it at the pointy end of the hard body lightweight off-road camper market, up with the likes of Track Trailer's Tvan Lightning, the Ultimate X-series camper and Bruder's EXP-4.
