A new go-anywhere, off-road motorhome will break cover at next week’s Queensland Caravan & Camping Show.
Queensland-based Travel Trucks is set to unveil two versions of its new Scrubmaster expedition vehicle at the Queensland show, designed for those who want to get off the beaten track for long periods, or travel through remote regions in Australia and overseas.
Both versions are based on the latest Iveco Daily 4x4, either single or dual cab truck chassis, and feature a one-piece fibreglass module that mounts on a kinetic sub-frame suspension.
Built in Italy and further modified in Brisbane, the base Iveco truck comes with optional heated, front suspension seats, 180 amp alternator, and engine sump guard, while other Iveco options including spare tyre carriers and vehicle cab access are also available.
The entry-level Explorer/Work Module model is priced from around $100,000 and includes the basic module that can then be fitted out to the buyer’s tastes.
The fully-equipped Scrubmaster Expedition Overland Camper comes ready for camping with four windows and a pop-top roof, double bed, benchspace and 120L fridge/freezer, shower/toilet, diesel air and water heater, small dinette, 12V battery/solar system and touchscreen display, LED lights, 185 litre freshwater and 50 litre grey water tanks, along with “significant” storage.
Importantly, Travel Trucks says the Expedition Camper “is small enough to tackle the tight tracks of Cape York… and fit into a standard shipping container so you can ship it anywhere in the world”.
Further details on the new Scrubmaster models will be available at the 2014 Queensland Show, which runs from June 4-10 at the Brisbane Showgrounds, or visit the Travel Trucks website.
