Al-Ko releases off-road suspension

Melbourne-based Al-Ko Australia launches first independent trailing arm suspension for off-road campers

Al-Ko will fill a gap in its impressive range of RV chassis and suspension components with the release of its first independent trailing arm suspension for Australian caravans and camper trailers.

Designed and engineered in Australia, the new Al-Ko Enduro suspension will initially be available in ‘Outback’ spec that Al-Ko Australia claims will set “a new standard” in independent off-road suspension.

Joining Al-Ko’s popular (IRS) independent beam axle suspension (pictured), the new Enduro will compete in an ever-expanding trailing arm suspension market, which includes new, heavy-duty set-ups from Cruisemaster and Simplicity as well as Jayco’s one-year-old J-Tech suspension.

Like the Jayco suspension, the Al-Ko Enduro was subject to an extensive off-road testing program at the Anglesea Automotive Research Centre in Victoria.

Enduro features include Australian-made 4x4 coil springs, maintenance-free bushes, integrated tow and camber adjustment, and premium Al-Ko shock absorbers specifically designed “for the rugged Australian conditions, where vehicles are often heavily loaded, fitted with accessories and driven on harsh outback roads for extended periods”.

“Results show little to no bush deformation or wear, significantly less dampening degeneration, superior heat dissipation and a failure point 40 degrees higher than that of competitor products tested,” said Al-Ko Technical & Manufacturing Manager, Rob Funder.

The new Al-Ko suspension is designed to “integrate seamlessly” with the Al-Ko Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system, and is available for both single and tandem axle set-ups.

The Enduro suspension will be put through its paces at a media event at the Melbourne 4x4 Training and Proving Ground in Werribee, Victoria next week before its official public launch at the Melbourne Leisurefest from October 8-11.

A new Al-Ko Enduro website is expected to go live shortly.
