Iconic American RV brand Airstream, has joined forces with Officinia Italiana Design, the designers of mega-exclusive Riva motoryachts, to create a very cool caravan interior inspired by a multi-million dollar luxury yacht.
Airstream, the 81-year-old maker of polished aluminium travel trailers, also collaborated with Italian firm Tecnoform, known for its fine cabinetry, to create the glamorous interior, said to “incorporate elements of the finest watercraft”.
Inside, the nautical styling is most apparent in the modified boat deck flooring, which uses high-lustre teak with a white wood inlay.
“Crafted with quality materials and equipment throughout”, the 28ft long Airstream also comes with LED panel lighting elements, Corian benchtops and plush Ultraleather-covered seating.
Capable of sleeping up to five people, the Land Yacht Concept has a typical Airstream layout of front bedroom, separate shower and bathroom amidships and large dinette and separate lounge at the rear. The small kitchen galley can be hidden when not in use.
Combining comfort with convenience, the Land Yacht features a powered bed lift to access the hidden underbed storage area, and three power awnings operated via remote control. There’s also a whisper-quiet ducted air conditioning system, two LCD TVs, water heater and separate ‘furnace’ heater.
Tipping the scales at a bulky 3447kg fully loaded, the Land Yacht weighs about the same as the
Airstream International Serenity 62 model, which recently went on sale in Australia for $135,000.
No word yet on whether the swish Land Yacht will make it to production, or be available Down Under. But if it does, expect an even loftier pricetag than any ‘standard’ Airstream for this level of RV exclusivity...
