Popular RV air-conditioner brand Aircommand has released a compact new unit designed to fit into, and heat and cool the smallest caravans and campers.
Unlike Aircommand’s other roof-top and split system RV air-conditioners, the condenser unit of the new Sandpiper reverse cycle ducted system can be installed almost anywhere inside a van or trailer.
The 240V unit (pictured under the bed of an A’van Aliner pop-top caravan) measures 287mm high, 442mm wide, and 652mm long (including brackets).
It provides a decent 2.2kW of cooling capacity and 1.8kW heating, or about the same as Aircommand’s smallest Sparrow roof-top unit, which at 29kg also weighs the same as the Sandpiper.
Underfloor vents and three duct points direct the airflow inside the caravan or camper, while sleep, timer and dehumidifying functions are all part of the electronic climate control system, controlled via an LED touch pad or remote control.
Aircommand says the unit comes with an “ultra quiet, high efficiency three speed fan” and has been designed and tested for Australia’s harsh conditions.
The heat pump reverse-cycle heating and cooling system also features electronic defrost to allow operation as low as -1 degrees Celcius.
The Sandpiper has a RRP of $1995, and is available from Aircommand retailers throughout Australia.
