Based on the more traditional, metal framed, dual-fold Opus Camper that first went on sale locally in 2014, the Opus Air utilises the latest air pole tent technology so that the main tent structure is inflated rather than manually erected using metal poles. According to Opus Australia the air beam technology reduces the total set-up time of the camper from around 15 minutes to five. The roof and canvas walls for the six-berth camper inflate in around 90 seconds after hitting the switch for the built-in electric pump, and a valve is released to deflate the air poles when packing up.
Victorian Opus dealer Geelong Caravans will demonstrate its unique self-inflating set-up routine at Stand 199 every hour during the show, which is being held at the Melbourne Showgrounds from February 22-27.
The air pole technology is the latest enhancement to the Opus Mark II dual-fold camper range, which was recently expanded with the addition of new, forward-fold two-berth and off-road family versions, Priced at $27,490 plus on-road costs, the Air Opus will have similar features and specs as the regular Opus MK II camper. The air tent will also be available soon as a retrofit for any Opus Mark II camper, as well as the original Opus model.
