Adria unveils apartment-like caravan
New 25ft glamour-van is half tiny house, half luxury cabinEuropean brand Adria, which sells a number of caravans and motorhomes in Australia through local distributor Apollo, has blurred the lines between a traditional caravan and a tiny house with its latest Astella luxury van.
Revealed recently at Germany’s Caravan Salon, the composite bodied, tandem axle Astella is described as a “new luxury experience” and judging by the images, they’re not wrong!
The Astella stands out for a number of reasons, starting with its twin, patio-like side entry doors and very un-European-like size and weight: 25ft foot (body length) and a Tare of 2370kg and ATM of 3000kg.
The inviting interior is set up more like an upmarket holiday cabin, with a very large front lounge area/TV room including coffee table and Bose sound bar.
The kitchen is quite compact by Australian standards, like many Euro vans, but the appliances are top notch, including a large fridge with a door that opens both ways, triple burner cooktop and sink, plus clever storage including sliding mirror doors on cupboards and wardrobes and a massive pull-out pot drawer in the kitchen.
The hotel-like ensuite features a spacious bi-level shower, classy vanity/sink and more clever use of space with a fold-up bench over the cassette toilet.
The main master bedroom is like something you’d see in a big American fifth wheeler, with a walk-around north-south queen bed and a large tray and electrical points on each side for storing knick knacks and devices.
Glossy finishes, curved windows, sheer window curtains, roof-mounted track lights and on-trend chocolate brown cabinetry, complete the boutique accommodation decor design.
The Astella also comes with central heating, plus a wi-fi hotspot and optional Adria MACH (Mobile Artificial-intelligence Communication Hardware) mobile app to control lighting, onboard climate, fridge setting, battery, water and gas from your phone.
Given its size and weight, the Astella is being marketed as a “seasonal pitch” or Airbnb type accommodation, rather than a regular touring caravan.
There's no word on whether it will be sold in Australia, but pricing in Europe starts at $87,800.
