Geelong, Victoria-based Achtung Camper has added to its range of motorised recreational vehicles, with the new Achtung Camper Mercedes-Benz Vito Campervan now available alongside the brand’s Volkswagen-based campers and motorhomes.
Achtung Camper says the model is the “epitome of a glamping road trip”, while it fits neatly with the company’s philosophy of simplicity, being “easy to drive around town or the inner-city and parks effortlessly in campgrounds”.
“Introducing the Vito is a direct response to our customer’s requests – they asked, and we listened!” says Achtung Camper co-owner and director, Tania Differding. “This offering is a top-of-the range, European-designed vehicle that goes to the next level and it will not disappoint. In fact, the Vito will be an integral part of the Achtung Camper product line.”
The rear-drive Vito comes packed with features including a wireless phone charger and heated steering wheel, among others, as well as comprehensive safety systems including hill-hold assist, crosswind assist, blind spot monitoring and driver fatigue monitor, among others.
Continuing the high-end feel, the Achtung Camper conversion sees the van kitted out with a range of quality gear, including upholstery from TrimTech Interiors, custom fabric designs from Warwick Fabrics, and Dometic refrigeration, to name a few.
Achtung Camper says it handles the conversion process for its latest model from start to finish – after the buyer has placed a $10,000 deposit, it orders a Vito from Mercedes-Benz to the customer’s specifications, including preferred factory options and accessories.
With seating options for up to five and the ability to sleep up to four, the long-wheelbase-only model still measures in at a relatively compact 5.3m in length, so it’s easy enough to guide through cities and regional centres.
The Achtung Camper conversion is available in the brand’s three main conversion formats. The 'Long Weekender' format focuses on the basics, with minimal cabinetry, while the 'Social Butterfly' sports full cabinetry and a microwave, but no solar panel or portable toilet. That leaves 'The Nature Lover', with its focus on self-sufficiency, with full cabinetry, solar, an awning and a porta potty.
Like with its other models Achtung Camper offers myriad options for its latest Vito model, from storage solutions to off-grid power to water provision, appliance and entertainment options, all of which can be selected via the brand’s conversion estimate and online ordering process.
Customers can also select from an array of upholstery options, while further choices span the cabinetry, cabinetry key line, benchtops, interior lining and flooring, allowing owners to create a truly personalised living space.
Achtung Camper says its Mercedes-Benz Vito Campervan starts at around $88,000 (including the van itself), while an average conversion sits around $116,000. The model comes with a five-year/250,000km factory warranty.
