Melbourne's Kokoda Caravans has lifted the lid of its mind-boggling new Counterstrike Vincere caravan -- arguably the most off-grid capable and extravagantly equipped, off-road family caravan ever built in Australia, and quite possibly the world.
It's also the most expensive Melbourne-built caravan ever offered down under, with a price tag just shy of $400,000. That's how much you'd pay for about six and a half Snowy River family pop-tops, to put it in perspective!
Spruiked as "the most advanced off-road caravan ever built", the limited-edition Kokoda Counterstrike Vincere (translation 'to win') is bristling with 'next level' features including auto levelling and stabilizing, sophisticated smart management, an electric incinerator toilet and on-board atmospheric water generator, plus a monster battery, solar and generator system that promises "ïnfinite power" when camping outside caravan parks.
Kokoda boss Trevor Price has scoured the world for the latest and greatest off-grid and home comfort features, including outfitting the rear 'master bedroom' with a cinema-like experience including projector, drop-down screen and surround sound; not to mention wireless headphones, a reclining and massaging king size mattress, and 'Soundshield'' interior acoustics.
"It's not just a caravan but a benchmark for ultra luxury off-grid caravanning," he said. "This is the most innovative, self-sufficient caravan ever built in the world. It's got unlimited power...and it's got endless hot and cold water because it makes its own."
The on-board atmospheric water generator extracts fresh water from the air at the rate of up to 150 litres a day, with a reverse osmosis recycling system and in-line filter also capable of suppling up to 1500L of drinkable, recycled 'grey' water, per day.
Installed at a total cost of around $15,000, the 240V Cindarella Comfort incinerator toilet acts like an electric oven, using around 1.5kW of power per 'flush''. The left-over ash only requires removal every few weeks or so, depending on usage.
Located opposite the triple bunks at the front in an apartment-style ensuite, the shower cubicle boasts electric 'privacy' screen doors and a fancy multi-head adjustable rain showerhead, with enough continuous hot water available for 30 minute-plus showers at a time, according to Kokoda.
A total of 7.3kW rooftop solar (thanks to powered, slide-out hard awnings on both sides) feeds a 48V 20kWh or 30kWh lithium battery system with a Victron Quattro 10,000VA inverter/charger (with 18kw boost capability) -- enough to run the ducted 'whisper-quiet' 5kW heating and cooling system, 6kg washing machine, 240L (internal) and 80L (external) fridges, air fryer, dishwasher, induction cooktop, 240V incinerator toilet and atmospheric water generator.
If the sun isn't shining there's a back-up 8kW petrol generator located in a sound-proofed, A-frame box.
Other external highlights include full-length handrail entry steps, five Wi-fi cameras delivering 360 degree views, and 17in Method Race wheels with Mickey Thomson Baja Legend MT tyres. You can also check tyre pressures and adjust the ride height of the Cruisemaster ATX airbag suspension while on the go, using one of the Garmin portable touchscreens.
The five-star apartment-style fit-out also includes Corian kitchen benchtops, a timber slatted ceiling, bespoke tapware, and multi-colour interior and exterior lighting.
The 23ft triple-bunk family van features Kokoda's Xcore fibreglass sandwich panel construction, with a Stone Stomper mesh guard and Raptor protective coating, and weighs around 3860kg (Tare), with an ATM of 4490kg.
Pricing starts at $380,000 with the 20kWh battery bank fitted, or you can pay $395,000 for the 30kWh variant. Kokoda only plans to build five (with the first one already sold), with production beginning later this year. A couple's layout is also on the cards.
