Australia is a big country and Aussies, especially those lugging around a big caravan, love stopping at BIG things.
For starters, there's the Giant Murray Cod in Swan Hill; the Big Banana at Coffs Harbour; Kingston, South Australia's Big Lobster; the Big Pineapple at Woombye, Queensland, and Tamworth's Big Golden Guitar.
Crikey, even the famous Bundaberg Distillery has a big bottle parked out front!

And now, thanks to BIG4 holiday parks and its 'The BIG Aussie Review' competition, we have the Big Snag.
Unfortunately 'Big thing' hunters won't be able to add The Big Snag to their list, as the extra-large sausage and bread creation only appeared for one day (July 2) at the BIG4 Gold Coast Holiday Park, to mark the official send-off of the winners, announced in mid-May.

BIG4 which has its sign on more than 300 caravan and holiday parks around Australia, said the humble snag was the top choice of The BIG Aussie Review applicants, when they were asked what they thought deserved to be Australia’s next BIG Thing.
“The BIG Aussie Review is about celebrating the people, places and traditions that make this country special, and when we saw how many applicants were nominating the sausage sizzle, it was a no-brainer," said BIG4 CEO Sean Jenner.
"There’s nothing more Australian than a snag, and there’s no better way to kick off a journey that’s all about the real Australia.”
Grace Herdman and Matt Millward – both 26 year-old teachers from Brisbane - with their cheeky video entry beat hundreds of applications for the dream prize of a 12 month free caravan trip worth a quarter-million dollars.
“We can’t think of a more Australian way to kick off this adventure,” the Kiwi-born couple said. “The snag is everyone’s holiday memory - it’s the smell of the barbie, it’s the first night at the caravan park.
"We’re so proud it’s the thing that’s sending us on our way, and we can’t wait to find every hidden gem, every local legend and every incredible experience waiting for us out there.”

The intrepid duo head off from the Gold Coast on their big around-Oz adventure on July 10, and will be documenting their trip via the socials (@TheBIGAussieReview) and BIG4 website: big4.com.au/the-big aussie-review
As part of the $250K prize package, the Brisbane couple get a $500 weekly food allowance. So hopefully they shouldn't have to resort to too many servings of the 'little' snag, aka a charred BBQ sausage wrapped in a fresh slice of Tip Top, drowned in a big squirt of Heinz Ketchup!
