20ft bunk van boasts one tonne payload!

Millard’s latest family caravan is medium in size but extra-large in carrying capacity

The kids won't have to leave any of their toys at home and you can stock up big at the supermarket before leaving home, with longstanding Sydney manufacturer Millard launching a new 20ft family caravan with nearly 1000kg of payload.

A Tare weight of 2550kg (and towball download of 249kg) and ATM of 3500kg allows the latest Millard Toura C/D bunk van one of the most abundant family van payload capacities on the market at 950kg.

Even with gas bottle and water tanks full, this would still allow around 750kg of gear to be packed into the Toura.

New 20ft Millard C/D boasts close to one tonne payload

Millard’s latest take on the luxury semi off-road family caravan was hot off the assembly line at the 2021 NSW Caravan Camping Holiday Supershow at Rosehill Racecourse.

The Millard Toura C/D 20’2 Bunk van packs in four berths, an ensuite and a whole range of other standard inclusions into its relatively short 20ft 2in (6.1 metre) body length and 7ft8in (2.3 metre) width.

Under the Millard Toura C/D is a dirt-ready Cruisemaster independent trailing arm suspension bolted to a hot-dipped six-inch galvanised chassis and A-frame (the chassis is built in-house at Millard’s Ingleburn, NSW factory).

Stylish and practical family layout

The family Toura also gets a one-piece fibreglass roof, aluminium frame, lockable tunnel boot and front tool box with sliders each side, alloy wheels, a reverse camera, external speakers, a 100amp battery, charger and 160watt solar capacity, and checker-plate front and side protection.

The family-friendly layout incorporates a north-south queen-size island bed, L-shaped lounge, double bunks, and separate shower and toilet, while fitted appliances include a front-load washing machine, 188-litre three-way fridge/freezer, four-burner gas cooktop and grill, rooftop air-conditioner and 24-inch TV/DVD.

Kids' quarters. Keep out!

Also helping justify the $76,581 driveaway pricetag was an external gas bayonet, lockable fold-down picnic table, two 9kg gas bottles, twin 95 litre water tanks and a roll-out awning.

The Toura series is Millard’s most popular semi off road model and notwithstanding ownership changes, the brand has been part of the Australian caravan landscape for more than 70 years, producing everything from full-size and pop-top caravans to slide-on campers.
